Don't Swim in the Congo River

This is a goliath tiger fish that was found in Congo, Africa. I'm pretty sure they pulled this fish straight out of my nightmares. These monsters can grow up to 60kg in weight.... you would not want to fall into a fishtank with one of those.

Lego Sculptures

Nathan Sawaya is an artist who creates pretty amazing sculptures out of LEGO bricks. And they're not just recreations of objects, like a car or a building, but actual creative sculptures. Take a look at more of his work here.

The Eye of Sauron

If you ever thought car security wasn't dramatic enough, this Tesla-coil automobile protector should satisfy you. Australian Peter Terren attached a 4-inch tesla coil to a boom on the roof of his car and created what is no doubt the coolest-looking anti-theft device to ever be built into a motor vehice. It probably wouldn't even work as an anti-theft device, but it looks so awesome who cares.

3 Ellipses for 3 Locks

Between 11 and 25 March, Swiss artist Felice Varini recently created one of those fancy anamorphic illusions where the finished piece can only be seen by standing at a single point. It was commissioned by arts agency CBAT for the Cardiff Harbour Authority and cost $50,000. A series of three yellow ellipses have been painted onto the working locks, gates and even the outer sea wall to create a piece that took a year to plan. It’s called 3 ellipses for 3 locks and can be seen at Cardiff Bay.

The Taste of Human Flesh

Called Hufu, it is tofu but textured and flavored into a pseudo-meat billed as "The Healthy Human Flesh Alternative." They say it tastes like people. The company of Hufu says that they originally intended to market the product to students of anthropology who were curious about the cannibal experience, yet daunted by the task of reproducing it. But they found that most of the general public was "interested" and acually were buying this product. So what does human flesh taste like? They say "think of the taste and texture of beef, except a little sweeter in taste and a little softer in texture". Good to know..

Cat with Wings

This Chinese woman claims her cat has grown two 4 inch long wings. "At first, they were just two bumps, but they started to grow quickly, and after a month there were two wings." Her explanation is that the cat sprouted the wings after being sexually harassed; "A month ago, many female cats in heat came to harass him, and then the wings (which contain bone) started to grow," she said. However, experts say the phenomenon is more likely down to a gene mutation. So the cat is either an angel or a mutant. Either way it wins! Oh, wait, right. The mutant one...

Earth-Like Planet Found

Known for the time being as Gliese 581c, this is the first planet we have found that can actually support life. It is 20.5 light years away, and has the right temperature to allow liquid water on its surface. The average surface temperature is estimated to be between zero and 40c (32-102f). Lakes, rivers and even oceans are possible. It has a mass five times that of Earth, probably made of the same sort of rock that makes up our world and with enough gravity (around twice that of earth) to hold a substantial atmosphere. This remarkable discovery appears to confirm the suspicions of most astronomers that the universe is swarming with Earth-like worlds.

Blacklight Tattoos

Always wanted a tattoo? You can now consider getting a UV tattoo which only shows up in blacklight. Since Chameleon Blacklight Tattoo Ink contains NO phosphors, is NOT radio active, and has NO carcinogen, this ink is most likely the safest ink. It also isn't visible at all under normal light. Its becoming widely popular and a good idea if you want a tattoo, but don't want everyone to see it.

Invisibility becomes possible

This theroy came about from the concept of refraction, which is the bending of light or other kinds of waves. In refraction, objects appear to be in a different place then where they actually are. The theory behind this is that if you can bend light a whole 180 degrees, then the object will not be seen. Scientists have already demonstrated this with microwave radiation using a cloak of metamaterials (man made materials used to bend and refract waves). They placed the cloak around an object and the radiation waves went around the object and then continued straight like nothing was even there. So its now certain that one day a real invisibility cloak will exist.
